Funding

The Department for Education (DfE) will pay the NPQ course fees for some teachers and leaders. This is called scholarship funding.

Below are the NPQ funding details for the Autumn 2025 cohort:

  • The DfE have capped the number of funded places, meaning there is a limited number available for this cohort. It is advisable to register your interest as soon as possible to maximise your chances of securing a place on an NPQ course.
  • All state schools will be eligible for fully funded places on the:
    - NPQ Headship (NPQH)
    - NPQ for SENCOs (NPQ SENCO)
    - Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO)
  • For all other NPQs, schools with the highest 50% of pupil premium pupils will be eligible for fully funded places, as well as early years and 16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage.
  • Schools eligible for targeted Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) intervention will also be included in the eligibility criteria.

If your school doesn't meet the eligibility criteria, you can still undertake NPQs, but these will need to be self-funded by either yourself or your school.
