Change at the helm of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub

The South Yorkshire Teaching Hub’s Executive Director, Katherine Lewis-Ward has announced her intention to step down after four years at the helm.
The past four years have seen a transformative period of growth and achievement for the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub. Katherine has developed the Hub from its fledgeling state into the successful teaching school hub it is today. This has been achieved by expanding its reach and strengthening its programmes to align with the Department for Education’s golden threads of Initial Teacher Training (including the Hub’s own provision under the Sheffield Teacher Training Alliance and the National Modern Languages SCITT), the Early Career Framework, and the National Professional Qualifications.
The Hub has celebrated some progressive milestones in the last four years. These have included the successful redesignation of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub in 2024, growing the Hub team, strengthening collaboration with education partners, providers, and stakeholders. Crucially, the Hub has been instrumental in welcoming a record number of colleagues to the teaching profession, and empowering and supporting thousands of colleagues on their professional development journeys.
Katherine said: “I am profoundly honoured to have served this exceptional community and to have contributed to the professional journey of so many inspiring educators. Together, we have supported colleagues at every stage of their careers, delivering programmes that have had a lasting impact on pupil outcomes, educational provision and overall experience.
“Our work has strengthened teaching practices, enhanced pedagogy, and supported leadership development, helping to train and retain exceptional teachers in the region and, ultimately, improving outcomes for young people.
“It’s been a privilege to lead this incredible organisation, positively shaping the lives of young people and enhancing the experience of the colleagues who serve our communities so beautifully.”
As Katherine embarks on her next chapter, the search is underway for an inspirational executive director to drive the Hub’s vision forward into an even more exciting future.
