Teach Yorkshire – a landmark event to support teachers, inspiring teachers and anyone working in education.

The South Yorkshire Teaching Hub is proud to launch Teach Yorkshire, the region’s very first large-scale teacher retention and recruitment, CPD and careers event, bringing together schools, training providers and education professionals from across Yorkshire under one roof. This free event takes place on Thursday 22 January from 4.00pm to 8.00pm at Wakefield Exchange.

Aimed at aspiring teachers, anyone already working in education or anyone looking to take their teaching career to the next level, Teach Yorkshire is the must-attend event.

For those looking to get into teaching, attendees will be able to speak directly to local teacher training providers and explore the different routes into the professions, including school-centred training, university-based training, and Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships (PGTA).

For teachers, support staff, school leaders and others working in education, the event offers a chance to explore a range of CPD and support available locally, helping individuals develop their careers, and helping schools strengthen their workforce and increase retention and recruitment rates.

Visitors will be able to attend a number of inspiring keynote sessions and practical workshops from leading local figures in education, including speakers with national reputations for innovative teaching and school leadership, such as Kate Davies, Keziah Featherstone, Martin Illingworth, Hywel Roberts, David Whittaker.

The event will bring together schools, trusts, universities, education providers and leaders from across Yorkshire, enabling visitors to make valuable connections, learn about job and placement opportunities, and benefit from a region-wide community of education professionals.

Emma Cooper, Executive Director of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub, said: "We want to highlight Yorkshire as an incredible place to teach. Many talented individuals from diverse backgrounds could thrive in teaching but may never have considered it, and our goal is to change that. By promoting the excellent support, training, and career development opportunities across our region, Teach Yorkshire’s purpose is to attract and retain exceptional teachers, helping them build long and rewarding careers here. Ultimately, this ensures that every child in Yorkshire is taught by the very best, giving them the greatest possible opportunities in life."

We are incredibly excited about this event and look forward to welcoming everyone on Thursday 22 January.”

With expert talks, interactive workshops, a wide range of exhibitors, and opportunities for networking, Teach Yorkshire is a must-attend event for anyone with a passion for education.
