Teaching Assistant – SEND

The governing body of Nether Green Infant School is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work in a Reception classroom to support a child with Special Educational Needs.

Previous experience of working with children with SEND is essential. The successful candidate will be working within a strong team, taking their lead from the class teacher and SENDCo. The successful applicant will provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of an individual child. The successful candidate will also be willing to work with small groups, supporting the inclusive ethos at Nether Green Infants. The school are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person who is willing to take on board advice from, and work collaboratively with, outside specialists such as the Autism team, Speech and Language Therapy, and other external agencies as well as communicating and working closely with parents. An NVQ qualification in childcare / teaching assistant or similar at least level 2 and GSCEs in Maths and English are desirable. An understanding of the Early Years curriculum and how children learn would also be beneficial to this role. Previous experience of working with children with complex needs is essential as is some experience of working with children within this age group.
