Service for Deaf & Hearing Impaired Children

Specialist Teaching Assistant for Deaf/Hearing Impaired children, 29.6 hours per week (term-time only)

The Service for Deaf & H.I. Children is seeking a teaching assistant to work with secondary aged hearing impaired students.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with children in secondary school settings, good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

BSL skills are required for this post, Signature Level 2 (or equivalent qualification or experience) essential.  An NVQ Level 3 T.A. or equivalent is also required.

The Service works with Deaf and hearing impaired students in schools across the city, and there are opportunities to develop experience and expertise in a variety of roles and settings.  In the first instance the successful applicant  will work as part of an enthusiastic specialist team in an Integrated Resource based in a mainstream secondary school in the West of the city.  The work will involve supporting students in mainstream lessons, and one-to-one or small group work in the IR base.
