Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Tapton School have developed the exciting opportunity of HLTA – Student Self-Regulation to work with Assistant Headteacher-Learning Development , as well as relevant subject leaders, to select fluctuating groups of students and deliver highly targeted short-term interventions. The HLTA will design and deliver these sessions, drawing upon evidence-based research around metacognition, self-regulation, study skills and revision strategies to provide students with the tools they need to take control of their own learning. These interventions are designed to enable students who have gaps in their learning (due to a variety of reasons) to progress to or exceed the level of peers with similar starting points. This role will require you to establish excellent working relationships with students, to be their advocate, and to consistently promote a life-long love of learning. You will need to be able to:

  • Be able to work under pressure within a strong team focused towards challenging goals
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Share in their vision for realising the life chances and dreams of every child
